Borussia Dortmund’s Mahmoud Dahoud is being eyed by Chelsea, after he put in praise-worthy performances in recent match weeks – both in the Champions League & Bundesliga.
According to DailyMail, the 25-year-old is being closely monitored by scouts at Stamford Bridge but will face stiff competition from Manchester City, who are also looking to bolster their midfield setup.
His contract at Signal Iduna Park expires on June 30, 2022. And Dortmund will look to cash in on him before any club has the opportunity to snap him up for free.
Chelsea will undoubtedly have the upper hand in luring his signature, given the fact that Thomas Tuchel was the one who brought the midfielder in 2017 to play for Dortmund from Monchengladbach.
His current market value lies in the area around €10m, which makes him an affordable, yet worthy transfer. The central midfielder has been used 19 times by Edin Terzic this season, scoring two goals. One of which came in Dortmund’s emphatic Haaland-inspired 5-4 aggregate victory over Sevilla. He scored a belter in the first leg, a goal that put him in the European spotlight.
Dahoud can be a valuable addition to the squad to lead the midfield but Chelsea already possess the likes of Jorginho, Kante, and Kovacic in that position. It remains to be seen how this will work out.
