  1. This video helped me a lot just bought my first baitcastor and had lots of birds net today out salmon fishing now I fixed it thanks to your information in this video ☺️

  2. I’m not going to say how much experience I have with baitcasters. But when you use what you learn here and you have your spool tension set properly. When you do get a backlash it isn’t what we call the double run. when you get loops that cross over on both ends of the spool and right to the bottom. You get one maybe two single cross overs and you have to pull out 8 feet of line. No big deal. Can’t catch fish if you don’t have a lure in the water. But I have also had backlashes that have taken a solid 5 hours to get out, Bring line when ever you start learning how to use these LOL

  3. This is why spincast was developed which is the greatest invention made in fishing history .Why would you make your fishing difficult.

  4. Excellent video, where the %#€& were you a decade or so ago?!

I still remember my first cast with a baitcaster. I was the only one dumb enough to even be at Willow Beach that day.., it was exceptionally cold.

Not the best weather for striper fishing, but I couldn’t wait to get out there with my new reel and let her rip.

That was about 10 or 15 years ago, and let her rip I did.

I had never even heard that term bird’s nest, or backlash before. I’m quite familiar with both now, and I’m still trying to get that first one out!!! Lol

  5. Just found this vid and am so thankful you took the time to explain EVERYTHING! I inherited a few and tried using them once. I feel like I better armed to try it again! Thank you!!

  6. Guys get a spincast reel . They were invented to get rid of the problems of baitcaters and spinning reels , you Been had, bamboozeled, run a muck…..there is no advantage to it …. by the time a guy gets his backlash out I got ten casts in ……meaning more fish!

  7. wow! thank you so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so much!

  8. Birdsnest!! That’s exactly what I got on mines!!! I bought a bait caster not knowing how to use it, new to fishing, a couple of months I love it .. thank you this video was very helpful im definitely gonna go home n try to fix it

  9. So I know you said that this video was for beginners but I have to say coming from someone that’s been fishing for over 50 years that was a fantastic teaching video and man I wish YouTube existed 50 years ago lol

  10. Awesome video. Spinning reel only for 50 yrs, tried baitcaster a few years ago and gave up as I spent less time fishing as I struggled with it. Ready to try it again with this great info. What reel do you recommend for me?

  11. I grew up pan fishing…my grandfather was a rep for Ryobi in the 70s/80s..and traveled to shows all over the country….First time I used his baitcaster he got in his truck and left me at the pond.

  12. Great tips, great video! I tend to fail to see the popularity of such an idiosyncratic device compared to other reels but im giving it a go. As a guitar
player…i would never own an instrument obsessed with complexity/un-playabilty…yet, here i go; fishing!
